Parenting Roles: Instructor, Trainer, Limit Setter

If you’ve got little kids, now is the time to set up a firm foundation so that you don’t have out of control kids when they get to be older. What exactly does this firm foundation look like? Well, you want to remember these three parenting roles: Instructor, Trainer, and Limit Setter. All three of these roles are vital to your child’s success and future ability to function in the world. The first 2 roles naturally lead to the third. If you instruct and train your kid, you’re going to be able to naturally set limits in a calm and effective way. If you don’t give them the firm foundation of good instruction and training, setting limits is going to be pretty much impossible. Plus, do you see “buddy” being one of these roles? It’s not. However, we are supposed to be friendly and kind as we instruct and train them.
